Description

The hamlet of Hezingen is located in picturesque Twente. This lovely region has the nickname ‘the garden of the Netherlands’ and not without good reason.

A lovely, picturesque area with hills, meadows, lakes, waterfalls, narrow forest streams, heathlands and historic craft farms. Here you find the charming holiday home the Wildspieker. ‘Spieker’ is the Twente word for shed. In the past, a shed stood on this place on the estate Springendal from which one could look across the vast meadows with hares, rabbits and deer and where the opportunities for the hunt were estimated.

 

This estate belonged to the textile baron Jannink from Enschede, who made the area look like an English estate. In this special area, that is closed off for motorised vehicles, you can hear the noise of owl species such as the forest owl, church owl, screech owl and the stone owl and in the morning you are woken by the knocking of the woodpeckers. Want to taste some culture? The picturesque village of Ootmarsum is nearby.
