Description

Bordering the Twente textile land. The rich textile families with famous names like ten Cate, van Heek, Tilanus en ter Kuile built their own ‘empire’ that included textile factories, villas and mansions outside the town.

 

Twilhaar is a former hunting home of such a rich textile family. In the past hunting parties would gather here to discuss the hunt while enjoying a Twente Herbal bitter. The view on the original sheepfold with thatched roof, explains the intermediate function of Twilhaar as shepherd home.

 

Twilhaar is located in the area of De Sallandse Heuvelrug. This is a lovely cycling and walking area with originally pine tree production forests (pine tree, Douglas fir and larch) but also deciduous forest with birch, oak and beech trees, river dunes (created by the propulsion of water, wind and ice) and beautiful heathlands. In winter this is a popular cross-country skiing area where attractive “trails” are set out. Looking for more background information about the area? Twilhaar only has one floor where the living room is connected to the kitchen (microwave, oven and dishwasher). The bathroom has naturally got a bath tub and this unique holiday home has two bedrooms, a garden with terrace and a large outdoor storage area.
