Hertenhuisje

One of the most beautiful starting points for a walk or bike ride in the nature of Drenthe is without doubt the beautiful situated and characteristic Hertenhuisje. A home with lots of privacy, a confined garden and a private bike shed. This home is located in the middle of the lovely nature resort Hijkerveld. From your holiday home you can take various walks or bike rides. And afterwards you can enjoy yourself in front of the wood fire.

The Hertenhuisje is part of estate Hooghalen that is part of the vast Hijkerveld, one of the four largest heathlands in Drenthe. Here you stay at a place where people already lived thousands of years ago. The old burial hills are the silent witnesses of this past.... During your holiday it is likely that you will meet the Shepherd and his herd of 700 Schoonbeek moorland sheep, a rare breed.

The Hijkerveld is still one of the few places in our countries with an undisturbed horizon. Heathlands and forests are alternated with fens and drifting-sand areas. Due to the adjacent nature resort Diependal there are many birds in the area. Here you can find one of the most exciting bird watch places in the Netherlands, accessible via a 167-metres long underground tunnel!

Apart from beautiful nature the Hertenhuisje also offers, due to the strategic location, quick access to lovely places like Hooghalen and Westerbork and nice trips to the challenging Drents Museum in Assen, The Herinneringscentrum Kamp Westerbork and the Museumdorp Orvelte.

The holiday home has a comfortable interior. On the ground floor you find the living room, kitchen, the modern bathroom and separate toilet and washing machine. Upstairs there are two bedrooms. An ultimate nature experience is when you see the Scottish Highlanders or and deer walking along from the (bed)room.
