Hidden in the woods between Putten, Ermelo and Drie, the small but special estate of Oud Groevenbeek is home to Dreesje Farm. This national monument dates from the mid-19th century. The farm is named after its last occupant: Dreesje van de Kamp was born and raised here. The unique Oud Groevenbeek estate has a network of beautiful paths: past the manor house, Volenbeek, the watercourse and the burial mounds on the Groevenbeek heath. Doing something active here? Then be sure to bring walking shoes and bicycles, because here you can enjoy walking and cycling past woods, flower fields, grapevine greenhouses and wood shrubs. Who knows, you might spot buzzards, hawks, roe deer, wild boars, foxes, badgers, green, black & middle spotted woodpeckers and kingfishers, because they all live on this estate. You can breathe culture as well as nature here: next to the house is a bakery, washhouse and carriage house. The former bakery is worth taking a look at.
On the grounds of the holiday home, there is a Natuurmonumenten workshed that serves as a base for workers. You immediately get a glimpse into garden maintenance on the estate; it can be busy with work. This takes place mainly on Wednesdays. Employees walk around the grounds of the farm doing these tasks. The holiday farm itself was recently renovated and insulated with natural materials. To preserve as many authentic elements as possible, modernisation has been restrained. The farm has a large barn in its original state. From the barn, you get a glimpse of the former servants' quarters. This is still completely intact. Below the bays, a wire hangs along the beams. In the past, this was used to hang the cows' tails on during milking. If you bend down, you can see the wire hanging from the old stable. Under the authentic fireplace is now a wood-burning stove. Also on the ground floor are a cosy living room, 2 bedrooms, and a bathroom with a bath and separate toilet. The kitchen diner is completely new and fully equipped. There is also a long table where you can dine extensively. On the first floor are 2 double bedrooms, a bathroom with a shower and toilet. Outside, you can sit comfortably and sheltered on the terrace beside the bakery.
Are you on holiday with a group of more than 7 people? Then take a look at the Villa Oud Groevenbeek suites. These are located on the same estate.
