Description

Shepherds live of the wool of their sheep but this wool had to be clean. Therefore, the sheep were washed in a large hole, the washing rage. The shepherd and shavers stood in this up to their waist to clean the wool as well as possible and to remove ticks and other insects from the sheep. Next to holiday home De Waskolk near Ermelo is still a large hole that permanently contains water, all that is missing are the sheep...

 

The area is alternated by forest and heathland and prehistoric burial hills can be seen. The highest point on the Ermelose Heide is the so-called Paalberg, a small, high thrust wall from the ice age. Plus, the temporary residents of De Waskolk can look at the deer burling from behind the wild screen nearby the home, or with a bit of luck, spot a group of wild boards with baby boars.

 

In the completely renovated holiday home De Waskolk, with modern furniture, the kitchen/dining room (dishwasher, oven, microwave) is next to the cosy living room. The bathroom has a bath tub, upstairs there are two bedrooms, outside a large terrace and a shed with carport.
