Laurettehoeve

On Tiengemeten (Goudswaard) in the former Brienenswaard polder, the Laurettehoeve is situated, a farm from 1854, built shortly after the reclamation of the polder. Tiengemeten is a car free island. The ferry service across the Vuile Gat sails all year through across the Haringvliet between Tiengemeten and Nieuwendijk.  You are greeted by the peace, space and wideness when you set foot on the island. Tiengemeten originated as sand plate in the Haringvliet, a former sea arm of the North Sea (before the Delta works) and has grown to become an island over the centuries. It consists of three parts. Weemoed is located on the east side. Weelde is a marsh area in the middle of the island. Here you can see avocets, curlews and oystercatchers. Wildernis honours its name: you do need boots here!

On this unique island you can walk along and through the meadows, mud areas, pioneer vegetation, reed and bush fields, marsh vegetation, herbaceous and tidal forests. In the former Margueritahoeve, Natuurmonumenten established an information centre, in the shed of the Helenahoeve you will find an agricultural museum and you can visit a museum that is dedicated to the work of the illustrator/author Rien Poortvliet. On Tiengemeten there is playing nature especially for children: more than 4.5 hectares of trees, small streams, flowers, mud and animals.

The Laurettehoeve can be booked for 8, 4 and 12 people. Via this link the complete farm can be book, thus for 12 people. The farm consists of two parts that are connected with each other through a shed. In total there are 6 double bedrooms, comfortable living rooms, 2 complete furnished dining rooms, 5 toilets and 2 luxury bathrooms with bath tub! Tiengemeten is a car free island. However, you as guest of Buitenleven Vakanties have access to the island by car. The crossing for our guests and maximum 3 cars is included in the rental price.
