Hoeve De Bocksen

This beautiful old farmhouse (hoeve) dating from 1890, is detached and adjacent to farmland where the cows graze. Hoeve de Bocksen is a historic building with its thatched roof and characteristic shutters. From the farmstead you have fantastic views of the nearby nature reserve.

Right in the heart of Overijssel, between Ommen and Den Ham, lies Eerde Estate. Here you can experience a wonderful combination of nature and culture. Every day is a coming and going of visitors and foresters of Natuurmonumenten (Society fort he Preservation of Nature) who have offices here. There are also students who attend the international school, which was established at the Eerde Estate in 1933. There are several historic buildings on the estate, including Eerde Castle.

You can explore the vast woodland area. You can see a rare natural phenomenon on the Eerde Estate: a river that meanders straight through the woods. This phenomenon is rarely seen anywhere else in the Netherlands. Natuurmonumenten has reconnected an old bend with the river Regge. This allows the water to freely enter the woods. Do you want to see what the forest looks like from the water? Grab a canoe and paddle along the curve of the Regge. But there are more ways to discover Eerde. Walk the route around the castle and admire the moat walls where the Aubrietia plant blooms in spring. Wander through the mathematical labyrinth of avenues or imagine yourself to be a nobleman or noblewoman in the beautifully designed park woodlands. There are mapped out walking and cycling routes, taking you to the characteristic farmyards in Eerde while enjoying the beautiful colours of hay meadows and fields.

The farmhouse is on the ground floor and has underfloor heating. The cowshed has been converted to the kitchen/diner, equipped with a combi-oven and a cooking island. There are 2 single bedrooms, 1 double bedroom and 1 double bed. There are 3 bathrooms, including one with bathtub. The living room is located at the old front of the house, with a wood-burning stove and a large cosy sofa. The patio outside is a comfortable place to sit and is surrounded by a large garden. You can store bicycles and charge electric bikes in the barn.
