Your neighbours are red deer and wild boards, the trees murmur and the birds make the most noise in the early morning. The peace surrounding the former forest guard home De Fluitberg near Kootwijk is deafening.

 

Forestry guard Kootwijk is mainly known through the conspiracy of sand and wind that it accommodates: the Kootwijk sand. This is the largest drifting-sand area in Europe with a kind of own land climate: the day temperature can rise to 60 degrees, while the night temperature can go below zero also in summer.

 

In addition, in the area you can go for walks, bike rides and horse rides through the beautiful forests, enchanting heathlands and vast agricultural areas. Attractions like the Kröller Müller Museum and animal park the Apenheul are nearby.
