Description

Holiday home De Hulterberg is located on the estate De Oude Hondsberg near Moergestel. This estate came into the possession of Brabants Landschap in 1963 and 1964. The former gamekeeper's house Jagtlust - De Hulterberg - was formerly owned by Carel Schade. In 1939, he had a Lady chapel built in gratitude for surviving a serious car accident. A close friend of Prince Bernard, he was very fond of hunting. In 1939, he had a Lady chapel built in gratitude for surviving a serious car accident. A close friend of Prince Bernard, he was very fond of hunting. The former forester's house is now a four-person holiday home.

Hulterberg and its surroundings are part of the Natura 2000 area, some 2,300 hectares of the Kampina and Oisterwijk Fens, owned and managed by Natuurmonumenten and Brabants Landschap (and some private individuals). It consists of forest, heathland, fens and stream valleys. You can cycle, walk and swim to your heart's content.

From the holiday home, you look directly out over wet scrubland with species such as field rush, wood-rush and cuckoo-flower. The Rietven is home to plant species such as loose bladderwort and is a breeding ground for dragonflies such as glass cutter and stone-red and blood-red heather dragonflies. In the forest, bird lovers can enjoy apple finch, cuckoo and black woodpecker. The latter is a mysterious forest bird, recognisable by its laughing courtship call. The shy badger does not show itself easily, but evidence of its presence can be found in the large number of badger setts in the area. Extra early birds can encounter deer and hares in the morning, and how about the gnawing sound of the beaver?

The holiday home is almost in the geographical centre of Brabant. There are 2 Brabants Landschap walking routes here. Follow them for a lovely walk along water, marsh, forest and grassland. Along the way, you'll also pass the strongly winding Reusel, which sometimes overflows into the Rietven.

Hulterberg has all modern conveniences, such as underfloor heating and a heat pump. On the ground floor is an open kitchen with a dishwasher and oven. This is adjacent to the dining and living room, which also has a wood-burning stove. The garden doors lead directly outside onto the terrace. The former upstairs room has been converted into a bathroom with a shower, toilet and washbasin. On the first floor is a bedroom with a double bed and a bedroom with 2 single beds, which can be put together to create a double bed. Staying at Hulterberg and keen to explore the Brabant countryside? Then check out Angorahoeve and Wulp, also located in North Brabant.

A SHORT BREAK

Maybe your ‘main’ holiday has already passed. Or do you have something to look forward to later on in the year.

How great would it be if you could already experience this holiday feeling for a few days? In July and August this is now also possible at Buitenleven Vakanties for just a weekend or midweek, just like the rest of the year. So have a look and book quickly.
